In the 95th Academy Awards‘ Visual Effects category, ten films are still in the running. The shortlist was chosen by the Executive Committee of the Visual Effects Branch. On Saturday, January 14, 2023, all members of the Visual Effects Branch will be invited to view clips and listen to interviews with the filmmakers from each of the films that have been shortlisted. Five films will be put up for nomination by branch members in a vote.
The shortlist for Best Visual Effects is as follows:

- Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
- Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
- Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore
