A 2022 American superhero movie called Black Adam will star Dwayne Johnson as the title DC Comics character. The film is the 11th in the DC Extended Universe and a spin-off of Shazam! (2019). (DCEU). Jaume Collet-Serra is the film’s director, and Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines, and Sohrab Noshirvani are its writers. Along with Johnson, Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, Quintessa Swindell, and Pierce Brosnan also appear in the movie. Warner Bros. The protagonist of the tale is Adam, an ancient superhuman who was freed from a magical prison by a team of archaeologists in order to rid the country of Kahndaq of the criminal organization Intergang. Black Adam’s villainous role was confirmed for Johnson to play in Shazam! early in the film’s development, but the producers ultimately chose to give the role its own movie. Sztykiel started working there in October 2017. The COVID-19 pandemic caused the release date for Collet-Serra, who entered in June 2019, to be postponed from December 2021. Over the course of the following year, additional casting took place, including the casting of four members of the Justice Society of America. Haines and Noshirvani again revised the script. April to August 2021 saw filming in Trilith Studios in Los Angeles and Atlanta, Georgia. Black Adam had its world premiere in Mexico City on October 3, 2022, and was theatrically released in the United States on October 21, 2022. The film received mixed reviews from critics, who praised the acting and action sequences but criticized the screenplay. It grossed $392.9 million worldwide against a production budget of $190–260 million; by some estimates, it failed to recoup its total cost after marketing and distribution costs, resulting in publications labeling it as a box-office bomb.
