The Visual Effects Society (VES) is a global non-profit professional, honorary society, and the entertainment industry’s only organization representing the full breadth of visual effects practitioners.
With more than 4,200 members in over 40 countries worldwide representing visual effects practitioners including artists, animators, technologists, model makers, educators, studio leaders, supervisors, PR/marketing specialists, and producers in film, television, commercials, music videos, and video games – who contribute to all areas of entertainment – film, television, commercials, animation, special venue, games, and new media. There are 14 VES Sections that have been established in Cities, States, or Countries around the world. A Section is like a Chapter but must have a minimum of 50 people. They vary in size, but each Section has an elected Board of Members that organizes events for its local members. The VES Sections are Australia, Bay Area, France, Georgia, Germany, India, London, Los Angeles, Montreal, New York, New Zealand, Toronto, Vancouver, and Washington.
Each Section organizes events such as Screenings, Meet-Ups, Panels, Behind-the-Scenes Networking Events, or other multi-Section events in-person or online. This is a great way to interact and exchange ideas with people from different companies, disciplines, or countries.
All VES Members receive a Quarterly Printed Magazine “The VFX Voice”, Awards Screeners or access to them Streaming online, a Netflix subscription as well participation in Nominating and the final Viewing and Voting online for the prestigious Annual VES Awards Since 2002 it has produced the Visual Effects Society Awards which honor the best work of the previous year in 24 categories that Honor head creatives as well as individual artists in all areas and disciplines of the work as well as a student award.
