Vigil – VFX Breakdown by Goodbye Kansas Studios

Vigil is described as a “deep-sea thriller” starting with the mysterious disappearance of a fishing trawler and a death-on-board a Trident nuclear submarine HMS Vigil, which brings the police into conflict with the Navy and British Security services.

Goodbye Kansas Studios was the main vendor for all VFX throughout the series, delivering 180 shots. The work included the creation of the actual submarine and digital water effects. The reel above includes some of the effects we produced.

The first episode of Vigil premiered on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on August 29 and attracted an audience of 10.2 million across its first seven days, making it the BBC’s most-watched new drama of the year so far.
