The maker free background tracking with the smartphone app is intended as a guide only, though it’s excellent for onset purposes, as of course, the actors would block the regular optical tracking markers as they move around… as the tracking is accelerometer/gyroscope / digital compass based, that’s never a problem!
It tracks camera rotation but not position, so it does NOT do free-roaming (e.g. Steadicam movement) full 3D camera tracking (if it did every major tech company and military in the world would be after me wanting to know how I did it!).
